About JamEase
Pick a song — get the exact notes to jam over it on your guitar.
What it is
JamEase is a free tool for guitarists who can play but freeze the moment someone says "just solo over it." You type in a song. JamEase finds its chords, works out what key it's in, and shows you exactly which scale shapes to play on the fretboard — so you can start jamming instead of guessing.
There's a library of thousands of songs to search, and no chord sheets to decipher first. It works in the browser on a phone, tablet, or desktop, and can be installed to your home screen like an app.
How it works
- Search for a song by title or artist.
- JamEase pulls its chord progression and analyses it to detect the key.
- You get the scale — pentatonic, full, or blues — mapped onto the fretboard, in the box or the neck span you want to play in.
Key detection is automatic, so it's a strong starting point rather than gospel — songs modulate and transcriptions have errors. Trust your ears over the screen.
Who makes it
JamEase is built and run by an independent developer — one guitarist scratching their own itch, not a company. It's free to use, and there's no ad network or paywall on it today.
You can use it fully without an account. Signing in with Google is optional and just saves your favorites, streak, and practice time across devices.
